Why I started this site

I built things for a living for fifteen years — sound systems, home theaters, the kind of tech setups that make people grin when they flip a switch — and somewhere along the way my life split into three lanes: Account Manager for Appliances in the Builder Division, caregiver, and Disney guy. Those lanes don’t always line up neatly, but they all point to the same thing: I like solving problems, making people feel seen, and collecting little pockets of joy.

This site is the place where those threads meet. I wanted somewhere straightforward to park the practical stuff — tips from a life spent designing systems, notes about working remote in appliances and tech, the small logistics tricks that actually save time. But I also wanted space for the messy and meaningful: being Traci’s primary caregiver, what that feels like day to day, and the ways we keep choosing joy (yes, even via churros and Soarin’) when the world gets heavy.

Why share it publicly? Two reasons. One, because writing things down helps me move from “surviving” to “making sense” — it’s how I translate the loud, roll‑up‑your‑sleeves parts of life into something usable for other people who might be in the same boat. Two, because I want this to be a place my work contacts and family can understand. If a VP on LinkedIn clicks through, I want them to see the practical, steady person behind the resume. If a friend is looking for a recipe that’s kidney‑stone friendly or a tip for pacing a Disneyland day with an exhausted partner, I want them to find it here.

You’ll find a bit of everything: notes about client work and tech decisions, stories about being a caregiver and what that schedule actually looks like, a ridiculous amount of Disney nostalgia, and the dumb little wins that keep us going — perfect tacos, a good listener on the other end of the phone, a quiet thirty minutes in the craft‑room recliner testing the KEF LS-50 Wireless speakers. I’m not trying to be an expert at everything; I’m just trying to be honest about what works for me and why.

If you stick around, expect straightforward writing — no fluff, no performance. I’ll try to keep things useful and human: clear takeaways when there’s a how‑to, and plain stories when there’s not. And if you ever want to ask a question or tell me I’m full of it, there’s a contact page for that.
