Maybe the greatest part of having a pass to Disney is the ability to do short visits that just refill the joy. We don’t have to do the long days or the mad rush to get in every possible experience. Just a few things sometimes is just soup for the souls. And while today was a short Disney day, it was a really good one.
We started in the Disney Art Gallery, taking our time through the artwork on display. There’s something special about beginning a visit with the ‘why’ behind the park instead of just sprinting to a ride. It set a calm tone for the whole afternoon. We always love poking through there as it’s always slightly different every-time.
From there we wandered down Main Street and did a little shopping. No big agenda, just moving slowly, checking out windows, listening to the music, and soaking up that Main Street atmosphere that feels like coming home.
Next up was the Enchanted Tiki Room. It’s the perfect low-key Disney moment: air conditioning, classic Walt-era animatronics, and corny jokes you can’t help but smile at. My favorite part, though, was the toddlers. There were these little kids in the aisle just absolutely losing themselves in the music—jumping, spinning, dancing with zero self-consciousness. Watching that kind of unbridled joy never gets old. It’s one of the best parts of Disney for me: seeing people, especially kids, completely lit up by the magic.
After that we took a cruise on ‘it’s a small world,’ letting the song, the colors, and the scenes wash over us. It wasn’t about checking off a ride; it was about being in the boat together and letting the day slow down around us.
We wrapped things up with dinner with the kids, which is always the real highlight. Meeting Abby and Andrew and sitting around a table together at Carnation Cafe, catching up, laughing a bit, and just being in the same space just a few days before their wedding this week really takes off—that alone made the trip worth it.
It ended up being a shorter visit than we originally pictured. Traci was exhausted and she even apologized for not being able to stay longer. But honestly, it was exactly the right amount of time. Pushing for more would’ve broken her. Instead, we got a handful of really good moments, and she kept saying over and over what a great time she had. For where we are right now, that feels like a win. I’m grateful we still get these little pockets of magic together.
